About Me

About MeI grew up in the shadow of my father’s workbench, as my father did before me. And the practical lessons learned there eventually fueled the dedication to craftsmanship that drives me now to create fine furniture.

Even while I pursued my other passion – the ocean – and earned a marine biology degree at University of California, Santa Barbara, woodworking still played an important role. It was the hand-built furniture and custom woodwork that bought the books and patched my wet suits.

I’ve had significant exposure to a variety of styles via my early work building major motion picture Hollywood sets and by creating fine furniture for a diverse range of designers and clients across the Pacific.

I have studied under Paul Schurch to learn marquetry, inlay techniques and the use of veneers to extend our world’s forest resources, and under legendary wood turner Jerry Kermode. Over the twenty years of experience I have gained, I have come to cherish the wood itself as the major design element.

I am fortunate to be based in two of the most beautiful locations in the world - the San Francisco Bay Area and Maui, Hawaii - where quality, craft and artistry are appreciated and coveted. I build furniture of all sizes and designs for many of the top designers and private collectors in the West, and also ship my work worldwide. I have no greater satisfaction than making my clients’ dreams a reality, and building custom pieces that showcase the incredible, timeless beauty furnished by nature’s elegant creations.
