Description:
This sleigh bed frame was made for a physician in Honolulu, Hawai’i. Starting with a large slab, I made veneers and used bent lamination for the head and footboards. The bed frame is capped with solid legs to complete the substantial feel of this piece. The undulating lines are fluid and sensual and bring out the dramatic sheen of koa. The grains were matched to optimize the rolling curves. Although the bed feels massive, it is ecologically sound by the use of veneers, preserving the precious resource of koa.
